The buildings columns weren't put under the corners of the building because otherwise it would interfere with the church underneath. This church occupied one of the corners of the building. As long as Citicorp built around the church, the church didn't care where around the building would go.

"It moves with the wind." The skyscraper is extremely light because of the structure made it so it could sway in the wind. They had to add a 400 ton device that would make sure that it would stay stable and not blow over in the wind. It is floated on pressurized floating barring.

This was discovered by an undergraduate architecture student who's name was lost in history. They pointed out that t could blow in the wind and he was told to study this particular building.
