I decided to focus on the health benefits of being on a vegan diet for someone who doesn't have prior health issues that cause them to be on that diet for my research topic.

The reason I chose this topic is because there is a rising amount of people who are becoming vegans. There's many places that make being vegan look "chic" and grow a following through their photographs of vegan dishes. It seems that there are more people that are becoming vegan as if it's just "cool" to be vegan rather than having health issues that cause you to be vegan or personal beliefs of the treatment of animals. I have read cases of people becoming vegan and their health has become better by lowering blood sugar levels, improving kidney function and lowering the risk of heart disease. I am interested in the vegan diet compared to a gluten free diet because someone I love suffers from Gastroesophageal reflux disease and I've read of being a vegan helping lower the pain and side effects of GERD. Some questions to consider when writing this would be: "how can vegans maintain the correct balance of some vitamins and proteins," does this affect people who have health issues the same as people that don't have health issues." By doing this I will be able to explore different health benefits and the science behind the diet and needed nutrients.

The information that’s missing from this topic is which specific health issues can be helped by being a vegan.
